2017 Certificate Level 4 - Thriving

Volunteers from the FCDT in Footdee, Aberdeen, are working to refurbish the historic Gospel Hall and garden for community use. Designs are being developed to transform the garden into a sustainable wildlife haven. Ideas include: a seating area, disability access, raised beds, herbs, vegetables, fruit bushes, compost bin, rainwater tub, insect-friendly flowers, birdfeeders, insect hibernation boxes, and garden art. The group also maintains flower tubs in the village and undertakes other tasks to improve the local environment. For this year’s theme ‘Birds, Bees and Trees,’ a new wildflower border in a recently cleaned up corner of the village is in discussion.
