Cummings Park Community Flat

2016 Certificate Level 4 - Thriving

The community garden provides a quiet, reflective place while offering opportunity for involvement. The group grows produce that participants may take while learning of the growing process. Community Learning groups have become involved by providing items for the garden such as birds from the Intergeneration group, ornaments from the ladies craft group, a fence built by the men's group, two memorials placed by the management committee, and more recently the potato growing bags for members of the community wanting to be part of a project getting people growing potatoes. The front garden is used by local families, passers-by and flat participants. The group hopes that the beauty of the well-kept garden helps to motivate and inspire local people to duplicate the process.
