Craigneuk Allotment Association
Built in the middle of a housing scheme in a high deprivation area, the allotments are the hub of the community, and involve everyone. The group works in partnership with the local primary schools’ mainstream and autistic units to teach children about the importance of plants, wildlife, healthy eating and looking after the environment. Everything is recycled, and the group collects old furniture for use by Residents and others in the community, and hosts many activities throughout the year. As stated by a group member: ‘Our allotments don't just grow fruit and vegetables, it grows our future.’
In 2016, Craigneuk Allotments Association was awarded a Certificate of Distinction to further recognise the groups' achievements.
