Falkland in Bloom has been together working actively in the community since 1987, and over this period the group has been immensely successful enhancing Falkland to the community it is today. However, it was recognised that it was time for change to bring the group into the 21st century. Hence in July 2016, the current chairman, Ashley Pearson founded and established Visit Falkland, starting the transition from the dated Falkland in Bloom setup to a new structure and focus.
This summer, 2017, sees the 30th anniversary of the organisation, from which it will officially launch Visit Falkland and say goodbye to the name ‘Falkland in Bloom’, whose legacy shall continue forward, hopefully for another 30 years.
Visit Falkland aims to do the following: bring the community together, promote the features and activities the village has to offer to both residents and visitors, enhance pride of the village and community, increase the biodiversity of the village and surrounding area, enhance the positive feeling of the village through floral and green space development, provide community events for the community to participate in, promote tourism within the village and bring in more visitors, work with the local businesses and community groups to work together for the benefit of the community and its visitors, promote and share information about the environment and heritage of the village, to maintain and upkeep the historical heritage and features of the village.
