Powis Residents Group
The group has plenty of green space, plenty of weeds, and plenty of kids. It has experienced gardeners and novice gardeners, crafty people, cooks and amateur nature photographers. The group is in the city, but there are regular sightings of woodpeckers, sparrowhawks, foxes and wrens. The local authority donates woodchip, logs and practical help. It has a community centre that birthed a war poet, and an edible garden with deadly autumn crocuses (not the group’s doing). Above all, the members have fun and enthusiasm, and are transforming their environment one garden at a time.
