Brighter Bucksburn works with the area supervisor to improve the environment. The group works with schools and local businesses to plant trees and bulbs, adds planters to neglected corners, and enhances its exciting one kilometer nature walk. The group is particularly proud of a recently established ‘alpine’ bed and a small orchard. A community herb garden provides herbs for all. Hanging baskets are partly funded by producing a local calendar. Volunteers tend planters and flower beds, help with litter-picks as needed, and repaint scruffy seats. The group has initiated a competition to encourage the use of redundant “black boxes” as planters.
