The Beautiful Kilconquhar group engages with residents to maintain and enhance their village environment, working closely with the church and Wildlife Trust. The group is engaged in general horticultural planting, maintaining tubs with herbs and vegetables, several trees including rowan and horse chestnut, and the Quiet Garden near the cemetery. The group has planted community fruit trees and continues to develop a small wild flower meadow. Beautiful Kilconquhar is in the early stages of bee keeping, and this year a small group of residents will be responsible for the hive. New projects for 2017 include clearing and tidying a small car parking area and installing an information and history board in the village.
In 2017, Beautiful Kilconquhar was one of eight Beautiful Scotland groups representing Scotland in the RHS Britain in Bloom finals. The group was awarded a Silver Gilt in the 'Village' category. For a list of all the winners, click here.
