Biodiversity Action
Biodiversity Action
Overview
The learning offered by this Biodiversity Action course is both urgent and relevant in the context of the current biodiversity crisis. It is vital to support learning in this area given the twinned nature and climate crises.
Aimed at secondary school pupils, this SCQF level 4 course will support young people to develop their knowledge of key biodiversity concepts on how the natural world works and how we are dependent on its healthy functioning. It will build awareness of what positive action they might take to address the causes of biodiversity loss and skills to plan action for a nature positive future.
The Biodiversity Action course developed by Keep Scotland Beautiful has been an excellent addition to our redesigned Science curriculum. The resources provided were of high quality and explained in full detail which allowed teaching to begin easily. The inclusion of the outdoor learning topic was fantastic, allowing learners to immerse themselves in nature and develop a connection with the natural world. When asked for feedback one pupil told me the course had been their favourite part of learning this year.
Sarah Girasoli, Teacher of Biology and Science, St. Luke's High School

“The relationship between biodiversity and climate change is often misunderstood. Yet a good understanding of biodiversity is needed to equip young people with the skills to both understand and combat these joint crises. This timely qualification from Keep Scotland Beautiful provides a useful structure and content to do just that.”
