Judges information
Judges information
In Scotland we have a network of over 50 dedicated volunteer judges, without whom we would not be able to effectively run the Green Flag award. They give us their time and carry out desk assessments and site visits on green spaces which have applied for the Green Flag award.
After attending training to ensure they are familiar with the process, judges are assigned a partner to support them for the first year of assessments. Working together they will write up a report which will include recommendations for developments or improvements.
Many of our current judges are park managers for parks which hold a Green Flag award and volunteer to:
- Share their experience and knowledge
- Share good practice
- Get ideas and inspiration from other areas
- Continued personal development
- The opportunity to network with other judges and park managers
Judges are expected to assess at least two sites per year and cannot assess a park or green space in their own local authority area, so some travel would be required. Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
There are no judge vacancies at the moment but please visit our volunteer page to get more information about other volunteering opportunities.
