Beach Awards Assessor
Salary: Voluntary (expenses only)
Based in: Scotland
Further information: Scotland's Beach Awards
We are responsible for managing and administrating the Scotland's Beach Awards scheme. The Awards are the benchmark for quality, celebrating clean, well managed and sustainable beaches. Our award-winning beaches demonstrate excellent beach management and environmental best practice, and the maintenance of high standards. We currently have a number of opportunities for Volunteer Assessors, who will carry out a vital role in assessing beaches in Scotland that have applied to our Beach Awards scheme. With support and training from us Volunteer Assessors are responsible for supporting the assessment process, by visiting and assessing beaches around the country.
Applications are sought from volunteers who want to support our aim to make Scotland clean and green, today and tomorrow. Ideally, our volunteers will have an interest in coastal environments.
In 2019, volunteers are asked to commit to attend a day of training in Stirling (TBC). Assessing takes place between 1st June and 15th September. The number and location of beaches each Assessor does will be agreed in advance between the Assessor and Beach Award Officer.
Being a beach Assessor is a voluntary role, but we are able to offer travel and subsistence expenses.
