Free Climate Emergency Training for anyone living in Scotland over 25 (19 & 26 August)

We are working with Skills Development Scotland on an exciting programme of training to help with the transition and upskilling required across Scotland’s future and existing workforce to help key sectors respond to the Climate Emergency and transition to a net zero society.

We are working with Skills Development Scotland on an exciting programme of training to help with the transition and upskilling required across Scotland’s future and existing workforce to help key sectors respond to the Climate Emergency and transition to a net zero society.

This Climate Emergency Literacy Skills training programme will take place on:

Friday 19th August 2022: 14.00 - 16.30

Friday 26th August 2022: 14.00 - 16.30

The training is for anyone living in Scotland who is over 25 years of age (please ensure you meet all eligibility criteria listed at the bottom of this page)

The course will follow a modular structure over two sessions:

Session 1:

  • An introduction to climate change
  • Climate impacts and adaptation

Session 2:

  • Reducing emissions (mitigation)
  • Climate action and communications

The training consists of one day’s worth of learning (eight hours), which will be delivered online over several sessions, using a combination of live sessions and self-study activities.

The training will be accredited to meet the Carbon Literacy Standard, which is verified independently by the Carbon Literacy Project and successful participants will receive a certificate in Carbon Literacy.

Eligibility Criteria

- You live in Scotland

- You are over 25

You are not:

- subject to an employment restriction on your stay in Great Britain

- subject to a funding restriction on your stay in Great Britain that would apply to the National Transition Training Fund in Scotland

- in custody as a prisoner or on remand in custody

- on any other employment, education, training, or enterprise programme funded by any UK and/or Scottish Government department and/or SDS (subject to any exceptions published by SDS from time to time). Among these programmes would be the Modern Apprenticeship Programme

Essential registration documents

In addition to registering for your free space via Eventbrite you must complete and return the following forms to climateaction@keepscotlandbeautiful.org before your first training session commences:

• Equality Monitoring Form 2021-22

Spaces are offered on a first come first serve basis and are initially limited to two individuals per organisation.

Data Protection Act 2018

The Climate Emergency Literacy Skills (CELS) programme is a partnership between Keep Scotland Beautiful, Skills Development Scotland, Home Energy Scotland, Sustrans Scotland and SCAPE Scotland to provide Climate Emergency Training.

We (Keep Scotland Beautiful) will use the information you have given us via Eventbrite to process your registration for the Climate Emergency Training and to send you communications about the training, including relevant follow-up information. We may share this information with Skills Development Scotland and our other CELS programme partners. We will store your information for approximately three years from the date the Climate Emergency Training has been completed. We will then delete your information and use only anonymised data for the purposes of reporting, analysis and marketing.

The information you provide in the CELS Training Agreement Form (TAF) 2021-22 and the CELS Equality Monitoring Form (EMF) 2021-22 will be processed by us and shared with Skills Development Scotland for the purposes of monitoring, reporting and analysis of data. Please refer to the forms for details of how Skills Development Scotland will use, share and store your information. We may also share any information provided with our other CELS programme partners.

We will delete your completed CELS EMF 2021-22 as soon as the information has been processed by us. We will store your completed CELS TAF 2021-22 and processed data from the CELS EMF 2021-22 for approximately three years from the date the CELS programme has been completed. We will then delete your information.
