Training to support educators delivering Eco-Schools in all contexts.

We also offer training for pupils which you can attend with an Eco-Committee or class.
Becoming An Eco-School:
Delivered as a series of four twilight sessions 16:00-17:00. All sessions will be recorded and emailed to those who register.
Session 1: Welcome to Eco-Schools - An introduction to the Eco-Schools Scotland programme and how to apply for a Green Flag Award using the online portal. (What is Eco-Schools?). - 27 Aug 2024
Session 2: Environmental Review, Action Plan & Measuring How to put together your Action Plan, looking at the importance of your aims and including what to Measure and Monitor to make sure your work is on the right track. - 10 Sept 2024
Session 3: Supporting Pupil Voice through Learning for Sustainability- One of the most important ways everyone can take action on environmental issues is by using their voice. How to fulfil the Community Element of Eco-Schools and encourage Pupil Voice. - 24 Sept 2024
Session 4: Applying for Your Green Flag Award - The process of using our Online Application System to submit evidence for your Green Flag Award, and what kinds of evidence work best. - 29 Oct 2024 or 24 April 2025
Learning for Sustainability & Systems Thinking:
Systems thinking is a way to approach solving big, messy problems in the world that involve lots of elements. For example, climate change involves science, economics, people’s values, health, and culture. This session discusses how to use this approach for Learning for Sustainability. 12 March 2025 twilight starting at 16:00.
Eco-Schools & Your School Improvement Plan:
If Learning for Sustainability is part of your School Improvement Plan, this session discusses how Eco-Schools can help. 8 May 2025 twilight starting at 16:00.
