We also offer training for pupils which you can attend with an Eco-Committee or class.
Becoming a Sustainable Setting
Thursday 3 September 2026 or Thursday 25 February 2027 4.00-5.00pm
What is a sustainable setting and how can you become one? This training session will focus on answering these questions, with a focus on the Scottish Government's Target 2030 Action Plan. We will explore how participation in the Eco-Schools programme can support your setting to become sustainable in line with Target 2030, with positive impact on pupil voice and leadership.
This session is a good prequel to our 'Becoming an Eco-School' teacher training starting on 10 September.
The sessions will be recorded and the recordings will be emailed to those who register.
Becoming An Eco-School
Thursdays 10 - 24 September 2026 (and 29 April 2027) 4.00-5.00pm
This series of training will introduce you to the Eco-Schools programme and take you through the steps needed to gain a Green Flag Award with hints and tips along the way to make the process as easy as possible.
All sessions take place at 4.00-5.00pm
Thursday 10 September: Session 1: Introduction to Eco-Schools and first steps
Thursday 17 September: Session 2: Next steps and supporting Pupil Voice
Thursday 24 September OR 29 April 2027: Session 3: Applying for your Green Flag Award

Session 1: Introduction to Eco-Schools and first steps - An introduction to the Eco-Schools Scotland programme including how to put together your Action Plan, the importance of your aims and what to Measure and Monitor to make sure your work is on the right track.
Session 2: Next steps and supporting Pupil Voice - One of the most important ways everyone can take action on environmental issues is by using their voice. This session will cover how to encourage Pupil Voice using Eco-Schools and how to involve your Community in your actions.
Session 3: Applying for Your Green Flag Award - A discussion on what evidence is needed to apply for a Green Flag Award and the process of using our Online Application System to submit your evidence, with hints and tips to make the process as easy as possible.
LfS and Nature Connection in Winter
Tuesday 17 November 2026 4.00-5.00pm
We know that getting outside in winter with pupils can be difficult, so join us for this training session where we will look at some of the barriers to getting pupils outside during the winter months and how we can overcome them. We will explore simple ways of getting your pupils outdoors and helping them connect to nature, even in the depths of winter, including resource ideas and tips for easier outdoor learning.

We offer bookable 1:1 support sessions for you to come and talk to use about all things Eco-Schools at a time that works best for you.
