Glasgow City Council

Glasgow City Council was the first organisation to sign up to our Cup Movement.

Councillor Richardson, City Convener for Sustainability and Carbon Reduction, said: “I am delighted that Glasgow City Council was the first organisation to sign up to Cup Movement in Glasgow and I really hope the city gets right behind this crucial campaign.

“Simply throwing away a single-use cup is a waste of resources. By helping to change the culture around how we consume our drinks, substantial benefits are in reach for individuals, organisations and the environment alike.”

Buchanan Galleries

Buchanan Galleries is backing our Cup Movement, with opportunities for both customers and retailers to take part.

In addition, they are signing up to the recycling service, provided in partnership with Simply Cups, which will divert millions of cups from their bins and instead transform them into second-life materials.

Kathy Murdoch, Centre Manager at Buchanan Galleries, said:

“We are really pleased to be a part of Cup Movement. As a busy shopping centre in the heart of the city, we take our environmental responsibilities very seriously and are always looking for new measures to reduce our own waste and that of our customers. We all have a role to play in keeping our planet healthy and we look forward to seeing this movement grow.”

Glasgow Fort

Glasgow Fort is also backing our Cup Movement to stop single-use cups going to landfill or ending up as litter.

Phil Goodman, Centre Director at Glasgow Fort, commented:

"This is an opportunity to make a big impact, both by engaging more people to make more sustainable choices and by providing an effective solution that will significantly reduce our own waste footprint. Involvement in Cup Movement forms part of our centre’s wider sustainability goals and we are delighted to be playing our part and supporting Glasgow and Keep Scotland Beautiful in this mission.”
