Volunteer
Businesses and organisations can help by voluntarily taking part in a campaign or carrying out litter picks or surveys. There are several ways to do this.
Firstly, you could complete litter picks in public spaces. Follow guidance and get in touch with the relevant local authority for support with equipment and waste uplift.
Secondly, there are several organisations and charities that can arrange away days:
- clean up uk can organise litter picking corporate volunteering
- Keep Scotland Beautiful can organise an event on your behalf for staff, colleagues and participants
- The Marine Conservation Society can organise a beach clean and litter survey - for your corporate social responsibility objectives and engaging your staff
Partner an environmental charity
These organisations are also looking for partnerships, which could be in the form of general funding, sponsorship of projects, membership of networks or marketing:
- Surfers Against Sewage
- Keep Scotland Beautiful
- Clean Up UK
- Marine Conservation Society
- Trash Free Trails
Support a community group
You can also help the local groups that are working on stopping littering or littering behaviour. This could be in the form of providing equipment, volunteer hours or intervention materials such as posters and bins.
You can use the information on Local groups and support to see if there is a group in or around the area you operate. Social media platforms like Facebook could also show groups around you.
Offer funding
If you can provide funding you could include environmental causes or even litter prevention as part of your objectives for projects you can support. We can promote any funding opportunities on the Funding page for groups to find.
