Girvan

Girvan’s sandy beach and stunning views across the Firth of Clyde, particularly to Ailsa Craig and Arran, make it one of the most popular destinations in South Ayrshire. Girvan is located within the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere which has been recognised internationally as a world class environment for people and nature.

Towards the southern end the beach changes from sandy shoreline to shingle beach. This is a rare type of habitat in Scotland and is important for breeding birds.

Girvan enjoys spectacular views over Ailsa Craig, a wildlife and bird haven, the Firth of Clyde, the isle of Arran and Mull of Kintyre on a clear day.

The northern end of the beach is home to a pretty working harbour where some mammals such as seals can be seen on occasion. This part of the beach also includes toilets, café, gym and swimming pool.

Facilities at the beach also include benches, playpark, boating pond and plenty green space suitable for picnics.
