Friends of Starbank Park

Certificate of Distinction
A caring community group which holds three gardening sessions per week - Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday mornings. They hold community workshops on topics from horticulture, butterflies, through to repairing clothes. They encourage all age ranges to garden together at the park, and run a popular Duke of Edinburgh Award volunteer group who help with all their events. At the start of May, the group’s ‘Hanami picnic’ celebrates the Cherry Blossom trees which flower in their walled garden. The group grow fruit, vegetables and flowers which go onto their produce table, available to all. The park is a beautiful sanctuary for all who want to relax and enjoy nature, as planting for pollinators is key to the ethos of the group.
In 2021, Friends of Starbank Park won 2nd prize in the NatureScot Pollinator Friendly Award.
