The Drylaw Neighbourhood Centre, established in 1985, is situated in the NWest of Edinburgh where a lot of council housing and low paid families reside. In 2008, volunteers began a journey to work on establishing food growing area and planting various flowers. It now has 16 raised beds, along with some 13 fruit trees. Volunteers are supported by a worker who assists establish tasks and growing rotation for food throughout the year. The fruits and veggies grown are given back to the local community, free of charge and sometimes used in meals served to older members groups. The volunteer team arrive and enjoy helping create things that are valued by others.
