Friends of Starbank Park
In 2021, Friends of Starbank Park won 2nd prize in the NatureScot Pollinator Friendly Award.
Friends of Starbank Park is an enthusiastic group of gardeners and friends who meet on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. They love their walled garden by the sea. It has two small little free libraries and a children’s nature trail. During the recent lockdowns the park has been a place where people can sit, picnic and enjoy the peace and space of the garden; as meeting outside has been the only way to connect for family and friends, the group’s newly refurbished benches have provided a place to chat. Younger Duke of Edinburgh volunteers have been busy sowing seeds, planting and keeping the park looking beautiful. The group held a successful ‘take away’ festive wreath making course with video instructions and using local fresh foliage. The group is looking forward to hosting its Cherry Blossom picnic once again.
