Friends of Morningside Cemetery
The group continues to care for overgrown and fallen gravestones, supported by the City Council which carries out a regime of relaxed mowing. This has allowed more wild plants to flourish. Scottish wildflowers have been planted in a wide border around the Cross of Sacrifice, and many bulbs added along the Cemetery paths. Two large compost areas have been created from pallets, and dead or fallen branches collected into insect friendly piles. Close ties with Morningside School continue. Research into the lives of those recorded on memorial stones have yielded many fascinating stories.
