Netherthird Community Development Group

Certificate
Level 5 - Outstanding
The volunteers started developing a 2.4 acre garden in 2010 which has now turned into a strategic community asset. Children from the local primary school play a big part in the garden, planting seeds and vegetable plants, and they planted all of the vegetables last year. The group has about 18 volunteers, who tend the garden, make hanging baskets and planters, bake delicious cakes and make tea for open days, and help at Easter and Summer schemes. There are numerous open days, music festivals, and summer schemes and, on average 80 children attend the garden three days a week. People from surrounding houses are volunteer watchmen when the garden is closed.
