Friends of Johnston Gardens is a volunteer group formed in 2017. Its purpose is to enhance and promote the amenity and enjoyment of the Gardens, which have existed for many years, and to provide a unique garden space enjoyed by all ages. The Group undertakes various maintenance, planning and fundraising activities in co-operation with Aberdeen City Council. It encourages involvement of local primary school pupils.
