Community Projects

Keep Scotland Beautiful is the charity that provides advice, support and training to others to achieve clean and safe local environments and to change behaviour. It’s part of our work to make Scotland clean, green and more sustainable.

We work with a wide range of individuals, groups and organisations across Scotland. Our activities range from projects encouraging biodiversity, to promoting sustainable food growing and care of gardens. Our aim is to help communities re-engage with Scotland’s environment and to improve local environmental quality.

Our flagship growing and greening programmes Beautiful Scotland and It's Your Neighbourhood deliver over 250,000 volunteer hours at a value of over £4 million. Through Clean Up Scotland we support hundreds of local groups taking action against litter and taking part in litter surveys. Do your bit and join one of our local groups or take part in a local clean up.

We manage the Green Flag Award and Scotland's Beach Award the benchmark programmes to recognise quality green and blue-spaces. Both these award programmes recognise the importance of having community involvement in using, managing and maintaining these quality outdoor spaces.

And we run the Pocket Garden Competition - encouraging young people to design and grow a sustainable miniature garden that uses edible plants, plants that attract wildlife, and that reuses something which would otherwise have been thrown away.
