Blairgowrie & Rattray in Bloom

Find out what the group gets up to in terms of sustainability and community engagement in this showcase video.
Now in their 42nd year, Blair in Bloom is a previous Gold Medal winner with Beautiful Scotland. In 2021, in partnership with Blairgowrie & Rattray Development Trust, they were successful in the purchase of a half-acre derelict walled garden in Rattray, which is being developed as a community garden, as well as a permanent base for the group. This is in addition to the many greenspace areas they look after in and around the town. As a member of the Open Spaces Group, they work with Tayside Biodiversity Partnership, and Blairgowrie & Rattray has recently been designated as Scotland's First Biodiversity Town.
In 2022, the group won the Garden for Life Biodiversity Award: The collective 21st century vision this group has adopted, of sustainability and biodiversity in regard to town beautification, is to be praised, and the cohesive working relationship with environmental groups who can advise and guide them with this vision is to be commended. In recognition of the group’s action plan to help restore nature in the local area, Blairgowrie has now been designated as the First Biodiversity Town in Scotland.
