Burgh Beautiful Linlithgow

Burgh Beautiful Linlithgow (1)
Entrant Category: Medium Town

Burgh Beautiful Linlithgow aims to enhance the Royal Burgh of Linlithgow's historic environment through its horticultural, environmental and community activities, encouraging civic pride and making the town more attractive to visitors. The groups’ volunteers, along with community partners, maintain 122 hanging baskets, 98 planters/barrels and 36 flowerbeds (including cutting of surrounding grass). Partly through other parts of the parent Linlithgow Burgh Trust (a Scottish charitable incorporated organisation), the group undertakes complementary activities such as community gardening, public art, the encouragement of wildlife and wildflowers, anti-litter initiatives, heritage interpretation and events, tree planting, working with schools, tourism promotion and fund-raising events.

In 2018, Burgh Beautiful Linltihgow was one of five groups representing Scotland in the RHS Britain in Bloom UK finals. The group was presented with a Gold medal certificate and also won the Town category. Ron Smith from the group was presented with a Community Champion Award. For the full list of awards, click here.
