We have worked with a variety of sports organisations for over a decade, supporting them to become more sustainable through initiatives which have helped them to:
- Create a Community Climate Action Plan
- Create a Climate Change Reporting Programme
- Develop and deliver local projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
Arbroath FC Community Trust
Arbroath FC Community Trust worked with us as part of our Community Climate Action Plan programme to support the community to create a climate action plan.
Arbroath is seeing impacts from both coastal erosion and marine litter. Arbroath FC Community Trust led on the development of a Community Climate Action Plan through its youth forum which explored local solutions and opportunities to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate impacts. The programme was also co-developed with strong partnerships from local groups and statutory agencies.

Sporta Scotland
We worked with Sporta Scotland, the national association of leisure and cultural trusts, in 2017 to provide guidance and assistance to establish the priorities and focus of a Climate Change Reporting Programme.
This enabled each Trust to produce its own climate change report to give them information on the actions they could take to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, adapt to a changing climate and promote sustainable development.

Climate Challenge Fund
As part of our work managing the Climate Challenge Fund (CCF) on behalf of the Scottish Government we supported a variety of sports organisations to run local projects that reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
Beith Community Development Trust were awarded a CCF grant to help sports clubs and teams in Beith kick the carbon habit by reusing sports kit, washing and drying kit more efficiently and swapping single occupancy car trips to matches for lift sharing, walking and cycling.
Kilwinning Community Sports Club were awarded a CCF grant to run a Kit & Boot Swap scheme.
Greenock Morton Community Trust were awarded a CCF grant as part of their A Greener Morton project which worked on energy efficient laundry, a Kit & Boot swap scheme and low carbon football lessons.
