Jim joined Keep Scotland Beautiful in 2017, he coordinates the Community Projects Team which includes our Clean Up Scotland, Beautiful Scotland, It’s Your Neighbourhood campaigns as well as other community projects. Jim oversees our two benchmark award schemes recognising the very best of Scotland’s beaches and parks and open spaces.
Jim started his working life as a biologist with an aquaculture company before retraining and moving to the sport and physical activity sector where he worked for the last 28 years. As lead officer at Scottish Cycling delivering the sport from a minority position to performing on the world stage. Jim then joined Cycling Scotland as education & training manager, developing and delivering national programmes Bikeability Scotland, Go Mountain Bike and Cycle Friendly Employer Schools and Communities. Jim then moved back to Scottish Cycling as their corporate services manager, developing and delivering their strategic plan, overseeing a relocation from Edinburgh to Glasgow, an organisational restructure and managing the corporate team.
Jim has BSc in Applied Biology and a postgraduate diploma in Leisure Management.
Jim has been a board member with the Scottish Cycling Development Project, Scottish Cycling, chairing the Scottish Mountain Bike Leader Association and Whitmuir Initiative.
