Charlie Lyons
Charlie joined Keep Scotland Beautiful in May 2019 and is currently a Learning and Education Officer supporting our heritage work. He delivers canal college which is a multi-generational heritage focussed community learning and development programme. Candidates work towards an SQA Qualification in cultural heritage.
Charlie is a qualified SQA assessor and internal verifier. He enjoys working with communities helping them learn about, and supporting them to conserve their cultural heritage.
Before joining us Charlie was a civil servant for over 30 years before starting with Scottish Waterways Trust as a volunteer peer mentor to disadvantaged young people. He secured a full-time post with The Trust in 2017 where he started delivering and developing heritage focused employability programmes.
Charlie is a self obsessed golfer striving to master the most infuriating game on the planet, and a member of Dullatur Golf Club in Cumbernauld. He also enjoys a wee bit hillwalking, but the old knees are trying to tell me its time to hang up the walking boots.
