Charlie Lyons
Charlie is a Senior Heritage Officer for Our Heritage, Our Future. A community-based programme exploring heritage and climate change themes.
He joined Keep Scotland Beautiful in May 2019 as a Learning and Education Officer supporting our heritage work. He delivered canal college, a multi-generational heritage focussed community learning and development programme delivering accredited heritage training.
Charlie is a qualified SQA assessor and internal verifier. He enjoys working with communities helping them to engage with and conserve their cultural heritage.
Prior to joining us, Charlie was a civil servant for over 30 years before starting with Scottish Waterways Trust as a volunteer peer mentor to disadvantaged young people. He secured a full-time post with The Trust in 2017 where he started delivering and developing heritage focused employability programmes.
Charlie is a self-confessed obsessive golfer striving to master the most infuriating game on the planet, and a member of his local golf club. He also enjoys a wee bit of hillwalking with his wee poodle called Peanut.
