Low Carbon Skills

Curriculum for Excellence takes its shape around the capacities we believe enable young learners to live adaptively in a changing culture and an increasingly unpredictable world. Keep Scotland Beautiful’s programme for sustainable development education providesd experiences which help learners to build deep, rich and connected understanding of environmental and sustainability issues in a global and local context, mobilising youth action and decision making and supporting the formation of key skills for living, learning and working in a complex and changing world.

Working with pupils in schools across Scotland, we have created resources that will expose your pupils to the world of sustainable business.  These resources have been made by pupils in schools across Scotland.  Through making these resources, the young people involved have developed key skills and knowledge that will help them in life and work.  They have learnt about consumerism, why it’s so important to know where products come from and why businesses are encouraged to operate more sustainably to help lower their carbon footprint.  These films will perhaps encourage your pupils to take action and make better consumer and life-style choices.

At the moment we have films available on Textiles and Food & Energy.  There will be more films to come which cover different industry areas.  The films are generally no longer than 3mins.  We would encourage you to watch these with your class and use the resources provided which provide lines of enquiry.
