The aim of the People and Places programme is to bring about an improvement in the cleanliness and quality of environment on publicly accessible land. The Programme is designed for local authorities and other land managers. The Programme helps Partners improve and maintain the quality of their local environment through effective, efficient management and targeted action.
The programme includes local authorities, statutory undertakers, housing associations, and managers and owners of large areas of land such as National Parks. As of May 2009 there are currently 28 members of the programme including local authorities, Amey, BEAR Scotland, First Scotrail, Glasgow Community and Safety Services, Edinburgh BID, Falkirk BID, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, and Cairngorms National Park Authority.
Partners of the Programme pay an annual membership fee and receive a number of key services. Each partner organisation is allocated to a Senior National Officer. The P&P Senior National Officer provides ongoing telephone and email support to help with queries relating to the Programme and local environmental quality issues.
