Watch video showcase for Climate Challenge Fund project run by Falkland Stewardship Trust
Local Food Works is a project run by Falkland Stewardship Trust in Fife and is funded through the Scottish Government's Climate Challenge Fund (CCF). The project is tackling local carbon emissions through increased consumption and production of local food as well as initiatives to tackle food waste.
You can learn more about Local Food Works through their new video.
Locally sourced food usually has a lower carbon footprint than food from further afield as there is less travel involved for the food to reach consumers. The CCF supports projects that aim to reduce carbon emissions associated with food through encouraging lower carbon diets. This includes activities such as promotion of local food and local food growing. CCF projects also work to reduce food waste in their communities as well as encouraging composting of unavoidable food waste.
