Celebrate Cycling at Bike Town Cycle Hub Launch
There will be a range of activities on the day so visitors can expect to have a great time while learning about all the great things Bike Town do in the community.
Healthy n Happy Community Development Trust have been awarded grants from the Scottish Government's Climate Challenge Fund (CCF) to run the Bike Town project, which aims to help people in Cambuslang and Rutherglen get out of their cars and onto their bikes for local journeys. As well as decreasing local carbon emissions, which will help tackle the climate change, the project aims for travel by bike to cut transport costs and boost health.
Local residents will be able to use the Cycling Hub all year round for a range of events and cycle related activities including guided rides and bike maintenance workshops. Residents will also be able to access various services such as the Bike Loan Scheme and cycle skills courses. Bike Town are always accepting bike donations which they upcycle to sell on to new users.
The launch event takes place from 11am-4pm on 29 October at Camglen Bike Town, Unit 5, Thompson Court, Rutherglen, G73 2RR. You can learn more and register your attendance via the Bike Town Facebook event.
