Our Spring Clean success

Over April and May, 23,289 supporters took part in Spring Cleans. This is a huge increase on last year’s total of 16,896, showing that the need for clean local environments remains of paramount importance to communities.

Across Scotland, communities, schools, individuals and businesses came together to tackle litter, transforming their areas.  Clean Up events were registered in 30 of Scotland’s 32 local authority areas, demonstrating that litter impacts communities across Scotland, whether they are rural or urban.

The largest organised Clean Up was hosted by Shetland Amenity Trust, with their outstanding ‘Dunna Chuck Bruck’ campaign.  Kinnaird Primary School in Falkirk was the second largest Clean Up, with an amazing number of 800 participants, closely followed by Onthank Primary in East Ayrshire with 710 participants.

Organisers could take advantage of our Greggs offer, to reward their participants with free treats at the end of their Clean Up.  In total, 158 groups took up the offer, totalling 11,647 treats being enjoyed across the country.

We want to say thank you to everyone who took part in a Spring Clean, and to those who already have their next event organised.  If you are feeling inspired and want to take part, find out how to Organise your own Clean Up.
