Scotland Achieves its Climate Change Targets

We welcome the news today that Scotland has met its annual emissions reduction target. This demonstrates the progress made so far but also the need for ongoing and long-term commitment to action on climate change remains.

You can view the Scottish Greenhouse Gas Emissions statistics on the Scottish Government website.

Scotland is making good progress in some key areas, such as decarbonising the energy system, but much more is needed in areas such as transport.  We look forward to seeing new policies and proposals for delivering on climate change action within the new Climate Change Plan and the Climate Change Bill

We will continue to play our part in reducing emissions through our own environmental commitments and our role in encouraging people and organisations across Scotland to take action on climate change.  In particular managing the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund and the Sustainable Scotland Network, and in our work with communities and businesses across the country.
