RESPONSE TO OUTCOME OF UNITED NATIONS CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE
Keep Scotland Beautiful welcomes the Paris Agreement which was announced at the United Nations Climate Change Conference on Saturday 12 of December 2015.
Whilst this new international agreement is an important step towards a continued and increased pace of action on climate change by communities, public bodies and businesses worldwide, what matters the most now is how it is implemented on the ground in the coming years.
If the Paris Agreement determined the ‘what’, it is now up to national and local governments, businesses, third sector, communities, and individuals to determine the ‘how’. Keep Scotland Beautiful looks forward to working with all of these stakeholders as we move forward.
In a survey we carried out in the run up to the negotiations, ‘Conversations About COP21’, 93% of respondents identified that they were concerned about climate change. In the coming weeks we will analyse how the Paris Agreement matches with the aspirations of the people of Scotland and consider how these should be best supported.
