Help Keep Scotland Beautiful - Register for National Spring Clean 2012

Environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful is encouraging people across the country to take part in their biggest volunteer campaign - National Spring Clean 2012 - and organise a litter-pick event in their local neighbourhood.

Online registration is now open for National Spring Clean 2012 which will run from 1st April – 31st May. Last year, over 97,000 people signed up to clean up their favourite part of Scotland, and this year the target is to achieve 200,000 sign-ups!

Keep Scotland Beautiful provide FREE clean up kits which includes protective tabards, stickers for kids, a poster to promote your event, and all the information required to plan a safe, fun and successful litter pick (including a contact within the relevant local authority to borrow litter picking equipment from).

Since 2007, thousands of public gardens, school grounds, woodlands, nature reserves, river banks, loch-sides, beaches, coastal paths, country parks, villages, city centres and road verges, have all benefited from a real spring clean - just in time for the summer.

If you are a business, taking part in National Spring Clean is a fantastic way to meet some of your Corporate Social Responsibilities, and is also a great way to have a team building event, for free, while doing something positive – with great PR opportunities – at the same time.

If you are from a local authority, we would encourage you to promote the campaign to relevant community contacts, to help Keep Scotland Beautiful reach our 200,000 target.

If you are from a school, a Clean Up event is a fun and educational activity for schools, and naturally complements work on the Scottish Eco-Schools programme - especially the Litter, Waste Minimisation and School Grounds topics.
