Event: Bridging the Gap Between Business and Community Groups

The Climate Challenge Fund's Community Action and Support Programme (CASP) organises events and training for any community tackling climate change. CASP and Scottish Business in the Community (SBC) are jointly hosting two free events in November and December, that aim to enable the development of effective partnerships between businesses and community groups.

Workshop details as follows:

How to Engage with Business
Free workshop for communities encouraging more sustainable lifestyles

Glasgow: 17 November 0900-1300
Inverness: 2 December 0900-1300

This workshop aims to bridge the gap between business and community groups, enabling more effective partnerships for the long term benefit of both community groups and businesses.

The half day session will breakdown some of misconceptions about working with businesses by going through the realities of business engagement and supporting communities to create and maintain effective business partnerships for mutual benefit. By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand what Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) means in the context of business
  • Identify the drivers for a business in engaging with their community
  • Understand the opportunities and challenges that these drivers could have for community groups
  • Draw up a plan on how best to approach businesses
  • Underline the importance of managing a partnership with a business
