Keep Scotland Beautiful is appealing to big-hearted locals who are willing to give their expertise to the charity running the It's Your Neighbourhood campaign. We need locals to come forward to assess applications for the recognition scheme in their local area.

Today (Tuesday 26th March 2013), Perth & Kinross Council has launched a local commitment to the Clean Up Scotland Campaign at Gleneagles Railway Station. Keep Scotland Beautiful, the environmental charity, is leading the nationwide campaign which is now running until the end of 2014.

As spring approaches, dog owners are being encouraged to pick up after their dog when out and about. Keep Scotland Beautiful applauds Scottish Natural Heritage’s latest national radio campaign, which focusses on the issues surrounding dog waste, as part of ongoing work to publicise access rights and the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.

A new programme of free vehicle emissions testing has been launched in West Lothian. East Central Scotland Emissions Partnership, a partnership between Falkirk, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian Council have joined forces to lead the campaign locally to reduce emissions, with the aim of improving air quality.

A new pan-EU group – Clean Europe Network – is launching in Brussels today (Monday), incorporating NGO’s from across Europe who are tackling the issue of litter. The independent charity, Keep Scotland Beautiful, is Scotland’s representative on the new group, and Chief Executive Derek Robertson will be making the case for Scotland at the launch event. The group will be launching plans for a “Clean Europe Week" in 2014, and meeting with EU Environment Commissioner Janez Potocnik.

Keep Scotland Beautiful, the environmental charity, has announced that it will lead a nationwide mass-engagement campaign called Clean Up Scotland, which will get underway in 2013 and will run until the end of 2014. Clean Up Scotland aims to empower clean-ups to clear Scotland of litter and mess in time for hosting major events such as the Commonwealth Games and the Ryder Cup in 2014, and to gradually encourage zero tolerance toward the dumping of litter and mess.

Keep Scotland Beautiful has been given the Scottish licence to operate the Green Flag Award, an annual ‘MOT’ inspection for parks on aspects like safety and cleanliness, for the next five years. The Green Flag Award is the benchmark national standard for parks and green spaces in the United Kingdom.

The leading charity for the environment, Keep Scotland Beautiful, recognised the work of 105 community groups with ‘green’ accolades at an awards ceremony in Stirling’s Albert Halls on 31 October 2012. Aimed at community groups making environmental improvements, the non-competitive <63> programme gives support and recognition to those cleaning up and ‘greening’ up their immediate local areas; from the street they live in, to a patch of communal land, or a shared outdoor space.
