This is a lovely sheltered sandy beach with natural barriers at both end. On the north side there is a quiet harbour where boats can be anchored. The beach is gently sloping with plenty of sand visible and with no problems with currents. There is a great 9 hole golf course. Portmahomack is also the site of an on going Pictish archaeology dig. Water quality is currently untested at Portmahomack.
The nearest town is the ancient burgh of Tain. The village of Portmahomack is 6 miles from the main A9 trunk road and is easily accessed. It has a bus route connection from Tain and the Seaboard villages. There is plenty of free parking.
