Landal Brunston Castle, South Ayrshire (second year of certification)
Landal Brunstan Castle has shown a continued commitment to the Green Key programme and met all the criteria required for their certification.
- Excellent progress made moving through actions relating to environmental management, hitting energy saving, customer engagement, and product replacement initiatives.
- Rainwater is harvested from gutters onsite at the maintenance facility using a water butt. This is used to water the grounds, green spaces, and flower beds.
- Excellent continuation with installation of motion sense and dusk to dawn external lights and replacing street lighting with LED. Clear awareness of impact of light pollution on customer experience and detracting away from night sky.
- Green areas are well managed to the benefit of biodiversity. Wild areas surrounding the site are left unmanaged and manicure areas in front of lodges compliment this.
- Staff engagement praised for being extremely high.
- As a rural location there are many initiatives to protect biodiversity and educate guests. Signage at reception advises of what species of wildlife guests may spot, with interactive tools for young people to use. Planned and guided walks available for guests to take up.
