Scotland's Colleges spring cleans with SEPA

Scotland’s Colleges held their Spring Clean on 4th May, litter picking around their office park. Barbara Slater from the Colleges said: “˜From eyesore to eye-catching is our winning slogan for cleaning up the footpath at the back of our office park.

"As part of our submission for the Silver category in Health Working Lives (HWL) we organised a two hour zero tolerance volunteering blitz on litter and flytipping. It was hugely successful in the amount of rubbish and human detritus that we amassed. It was also enjoyable, worthwhile, good for ‘body and soul’ for staff members and we were very fortunate to engage with other volunteers from SEPA, also based in the Park. Stirling Council provided the litter pickers; Keep Scotland Beautiful provided the tabards; and Greggs provided the cakes. It looks as if we may now be able to collaborate with Stirling Council and SEPA on a volunteering basis in terms of discouraging further litter and flytipping, and planting nectar and pollen rich plants to edge the pathways and simultaneously encourage biodiversity and sustainability.”
