John joined Keep Scotland Beautiful in December 2004.
He has over 30 years’ experience working in senior management, including 11 years in the retail industry and over 20 years within the Scottish charity sector.
Prior to joining Keep Scotland Beautiful, John spent 10 years as Chief Executive of the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland. He is a Fellow of the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS), a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and a Technician Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
John has served as a charity trustee and has advised several UK and Irish charities and professional bodies with governance, business and organisational matters. In addition, he is a Reader for the Queen’s Anniversary Awards for Further and Higher Education and a Judge for the National Railway Heritage Awards.
As an enthusiastic amateur gardener, John is glad to be Keep Scotland Beautiful’s representative on the Royal Horticultural Society’s Britain in Bloom Federation.
